Sourcing SigmaPharm 5mcg Liothyronine

I was due to have my next lot of SigmaPharm 5mcg tablets from the pharmacy I usually get them from next week. They have just called to say they can’t get them from their supplier anymore and so suggested a different brand, Morningside.

I was on a different brand earlier this year Mercury Pharma and had a reaction to them, skin rash and burning itchiness etc, on the SigmaPharm brand I have been ok. Another problem is I had a fresh embryo transfer from ivf yesterday and so really do not want to change anything until we know if it’s successful (even then I won’t want to change but it won’t be quite as bad). I take them alongside Levothyroxine 100mcg a day.

I have spoken to the consultant who prescribes them and they said if can’t get hold of any the best thing to do would be to try the morningside brand. As you can imagine this makes me quite anxious in the situation.

Is it worth me calling other chemists to see if they have any or can get any in?

Does anybody know where I can get the SigmaPharm liothyronine from or any suggestions please?

No I get through nuclear medicine on the nhs, but there is a private consultant at the royal who I have spoken to. If he was able to give me a private prescription is that a possibility? Thank you for your reply

Several of the pharmacies on the ThyroidUK list will accept NHS prescriptions as well as private - it's stated on the list. Well worth ringing round and asking.
