Private Prescription

Been to see private Endo and he has prescribed T3.

He looked at my blood test results and said my T3 was low, what i have been saying for the past 7 years being on T4 only, finally someone in the medical proffession has acknowledged it.

I have received an email from a Roseway Laboratory for 28 mcg Lio T3 Teva Lactose free tablets charging £105.

Can someone advise me please as this is all new to me. I had the brand Teva once and was so ill i refused to have it. Because of my sensitivity on tablets i am now on liquid thyroxine again was offered Teva that i tried but again had terrible side affects. Reading comments on here i can see alot of people have a problem with the brand.

My question is do i have to accept the Teva T3 brand thats on the private prescription, i dont know why the consultant has asked for lactose free i havent got an intolerance.

Is it the same with a private prescription that im now going to have the same problem and be offered Teva.

I thought by seeing a private Endo it would be all straight forward , my heart sank this morning when i received the email from Roseway Lab with the brand Teva on it.

Ive never had a private prescription before so any advice would be appreciated.

Odinil the problem is the filler in Teva levothyroxine. Teva liothyronine t3 is different and does not cause problems. I have taken Tevalio with no effects. The problem is the container they come in which is difficult to open!

Yes, don’t worry about it being Teva liothyronine. It doesn’t seem to cause people the same problems as Teva levothyroxine.

Will the endo do that for me. Why didnt he specify a brand and not leave the prescription open for Roseway to decide what brand to give me. What do you think about lactose free if i havent got an intolerance?? Cant say im that impressed so far but i suppose the end result is what i wanted. Do i pay the endo for a private prescription everytime now?

This is so new to me the procedure wasnt explained to me at my consultation.

Why didnt he specify a brand and not leave the prescription open for Roseway to decide what brand to give me.

Any UK pharmacy is expected to fulfil prescriptions with UK-licensed products, whenever possible. A prescription for "20 microgram liothyronine" can be dispensed as Teva, Morningside or Advanz Mercury Pharma and that is what they must do.

In order for the pharmacy to dispense Thybon Henning, the prescription really needs to say that explicitly.
