Hello everyone, I had a hysterectomy five weeks ago due to Adonomyosis, fibroids and the beginnings of a tumour on one of my ovaries (which partly explains why I've been feeling awful for so long!).
I felt good initially, but I'm now exhausted and getting some of the same symptoms I had pre-op (sinus problems, headaches, aching limbs, bad anxiety), so I'm wondering if they're linked to my Hashimoto's/low adrenal function.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in the same position and what has helped? It's not surprising my endocrine system is panicking a bit as I had both ovaries removed, and I've only been put on 50mg of oestrogen HRT so far. I've just ordered a thyroid and ferritin test from Thriva so I can find out what's going with my levels. I feel like I could sleep 24 hours a day!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice 😌

Id ask for your hormones to be tested as I doubt 50mcg's are enough. I was put on 100mcgs straight away in a patch which worked well. Are you on oral HRT or patches? Id recommend patches.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I am on patches, but I had to literally beg for them because they were going to send me home with nothing until my six-week review. The thought horrified me! I suffered from PMDD and I had echos of that this week, so I think it definitely needs to be upped now I basically have zero oestrogen of my own.
As Star13 says oestrogen patches (or gel, pessaries) are better than oral as have less chance of interfering with thyroid hormone levels. Depending upon how old you are, 50mcg oestrogen could be too low but they like to use the lowest dose possible because there are other risks. However, you need adequate oestrogen to keep well, healthy & strong. Have you got breast cancer risks in your family?
I have got breast cancer on my Father's side but none in my immediate family thankfully. I had everything removed so I'm left with zilch 😆 I've got a follow-up appointment with my surgeon on Thursday so I'll ask him about it all then. I paid to to go privately in the end due to NHS waiting times/a terrifying NHS gynaecologist, but they seem keen to shuffle me back to the NHS asap so they can deal with me, which is why I've ordered my own thyroid test.
