Morning everyone ❤️

I've had a ear nose and throat infection for about 20 days now, it has affected me on the left hand side with a slight swelling in my neck felt like a large peanut,, I spoke to practice nurse ( no gp to talk to) 😠over a phone appointment about 9 days ago she prescribed a antibiotic ear spray ( I was having blood in my nose mucus) I've just finished the spray my ear and throat feels slightly better but ear is still giving me pain... Anyway my bloods were due ( thyroid & renals) but I was asked to cancel it as I had an infection, I rang to ask for another appointment but were told they probably won't do my thyroid bloods, I explained that my TSH has been high on my last 2 blood tests, last bloods were done on 24th Aug..( TSH was 15.2).. Can I ask what is the cheapest way for me to get my thyroid bloods done privately 👍 I live just round the corner from my local hospital, I've seen on here that some people got their bloods done at a hospital 👍 I'm just about sick of this now!! Also AGAIN my pharmacy as told me they can't get my T3 meds, I was lucky on my last lot as I receive 3 months supply 👏 but now.... I'm stressed again having to fight it out with the pharmacy, the pharmacist got angry with me saying it was nothing to do with him, and I should try something different 😕.. Fgs.. My gp is no help on this either only saying go bk on T4.. Even though I was not good on them.. 😠

Monitor My Health Is cheapest for TSH Ft4 and Ft3 as DIY fingerprick test

How much T3 are you now taking

Could you afford to see thyroid specialist endocrinologist privately and self fund T3

Private prescription enables access to Thybon Henning 20mcg tablets via specialist pharmacies in U.K. at 50p per tablet

Thybon Henning are lactose free

Hi slowdragon 💗Thank you for the reply,.. Firstly I can't afford a private appointment with a endocrinologist, or T3 self medication 😩 but I've just seen an endocrinologist in Hexham in September this year, although that was in connection with primary hyperparathyroidism, unfortunately the paperwork he requested from my gp did not arrive to him via e mail so he never saw any of my blood results for thyroid, of course those bloods have nothing to do with PTH or calcium, I wonder if he would be interested in my TSH results as he rang me in November saying my first lot of bloods don't show primary hyperparathyroidism, and maby my symptoms are of something else 🤷‍♀️I'm due back up to Hexham General on 6th Dec but that is only for a blood draw again (PHT, calcium, vitamin D) I'm not seeing the endo, as I'm on T3 only my T3 is at the top end think it was 5.6..but on both occasions my TSH was way over, at 19.5....15.2 that was the last one done, I was on 25mg T3 split my T3 was 5.6....TSH 15.2...T4..2....I increase to 30mg after the last blood work as above 👆.. And as I said on my previous post I was due to have it re tested, does my T3 not look OK... Would increasing my T3 meds make my T3 go higher?... 🤔 That's why I need to know what my TSH and T3 are doing now after the 5mg increase 👍

Thanks slowdragon 💗

Many (most?) people on JUST T3 will need between 40mcg and 60mcg minimum T3 daily

So hardly surprising thatTSH is high

ALWAYS get printed copies of all your test results and ranges to take with you to any consultation

Suggest you get tested via Monitor My Health…it’s an NHS lab

Always test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water

Day before test split T3 into 3 doses …..taking last 1/3rd of daily dose 8-12 hours before test

Thanks for that advice slowdragon 👍... Think I need to address this with my surgery again and if they refuse to do full thyroid pannle I will go private, weird thing about my TSH is my other blood tests I had when I was on 25mg were 0.2.. 0.80.. Then they just shot up, weird... 🤷‍♀️

That’s common….it’s like the body needs to get use to being on some replacement thyroid hormones to get TSH to respond at all

Plus you were on higher dose T3 ….then reduced

On just T3 you would expect TSH to be near zero or suppressed when adequately treated

**Added later in June 2022 for clarification ~ The high TSH result of 15.12 was probably because of missing at least 5 days of T3 around the 15th august ,and then testing on the 23rd august . .. fT3 was already at 6.6 [3.2-6.8] and so increasing it by 5mcg to 30mcg based on this high TSH result was probably not necessary .
