In a healthy person with a healthy thyroid, I think the body reduces its production of T3 during illness.

I don't know anything about the effect of illness on adrenal function.

Just to add, I think the reduction in T3 production during illness is very small.

Personally, I would keep taking my thyroid hormones, whatever they were, at my normal dose, even if I was ill.

Illness makes the adrenals work harder, as does any kind of stress to the body, such as surgery, job loss, divorce etc. that is one of the reasons people tend to crave salt and or sugar around these times.

I agree with Humanbean.

I haven't had a cold for donkeys' years and I've never had flu nor Covid, but I have had chest/lung infections which are pretty serious as I have lung disease. During these exacerbations I've had short courses of prednisolone and antibiotics (5-7 days) and I have never altered my dose of Levo or T3 or changed my adrenal glandular dose, nor have I felt the need to.
