- Diagnosed Hashimoto's 18 Months ago

- On NDT (bad side effects with Levo)

- Low Cortisol in afternoons

- Using coffee & sweet foods to satisfy energy & cravings

- History of stomach issues (h-pylori etc)

- Blood Sugar Glucose (fasting) 110 - 115 regularly.

Looking to see if Berberine can help.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.

Cola If you do a google search on berberine, as I have just done, you will see that the advisories against it are that it can cause stomach upsets and that it affects medications that rely on the liver for their action.Of interest maybe as we rely on the stomach for absorption of our oral hormones and the liver plays a big role in T4 to T3 conversion.

To be honest I would be looking to resolve the issues that you know about rather than adding another unknown factor (berberine) into the mix as you don't know what it will do or affect.

The coffee and sugary foods will not help the low cortisol. All they will do is mask the problem. This might be of interest

If your stomach issues are current then that will affect absorption so you need to look at ways of improving your stomach problems. Gluten free?

Are you on an adequate dose of NDT? Do you split it throughout the day?

Thanks for your advice. I agree, at this stage maybe another supplement complication to add to the list already. I do need to cut down the coffee & sugary stuff.

I have been Gluten Free for one year now & that has helped with stomach issues i'm sure.

I'm on 2 NDT (split one 7am, half 3pm & half about 9pm). I think this needs to gradually increase... but i find it gives me a loose tummy, so apprehensive.

FT3 always about 65-75% 8am (last half NDT at around 9pm).

I am sure i have a cortisol problem mud afternoon... this has tested low a couple time now (I will explore this further) Hence, the 3pm cakes & coffee.

Thank you very much.
