Good morning Warwickian. I have looked on your 'page' that only has your name and no background of your journey to be finally diagnosed. When were you diagnosed?
I note from the above you have hashimoto's and are taking 50mcg of T3. T3 being the active thyroid hormone needed in our millions of T3 receptor cells for us to function normally.
I am not medically qualified but assume you may have some 'resistance' to thyroid hormones as 50mcg of T3 is approx equal to 200mcg of levothyroxine.
Do you have details of your most recent blood test (with the ranges) that you can post so that members can respond?
This is the process recommended when getting a blood draw for thyroid hormones:-
Always get the earliest possible blood draw, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test and take it afterwards?
Your GP should also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
Other members will respond when they read your post.
Sorry, I have just added more info to my ‘story’ . I have posted a few times with readings etc in the past. I always follow the protocol about testing, usually do test with medichecks. I have a private endo who is pretty good with thyroid matters. My vits and minerals have been checked recently (as I also suffer from AI hair loss) . My thyroid gland is almost nonexistent now, had U/S scan earlier this year. Latest test results -TSH 0.31 (0.27-4.2)
T3. 5.7 (3.1-6.8)
T4. 1.47 (12-22)
I saw endo yesterday, she’s keeping me on 50mcg T3 but has suggested Ozempic trial to help with weight, not sure so wondered if any other forum participants have tried it?Thanks for your reply, shaws
Are you diabetic? Im hypo and take otezla for psoriatic arthritis and this drug makes everyone who takes it to lose weight ….. except me
Thanks for your reply. No, I’m not diabetic. That’s one part of me that seems to work ok- at the moment, anyway! I suppose it’s worth trying the initial (low) dose. Endo will review in a month; she said some pts. lose some weight even on a v low dose…
I don’t understand why you would take a diabetic drug to lose hypo weight since are bodies fight so much why add more potential issues if you don’t need to.
I just read they approved this for thyroid patients and weight loss… remember all magic comes with a price.
It was endo’s suggestion as she knows I am desperate to lose weight. I eat healthy food and briskly walk 15000 steps every day, it’s so frustrating! I’m very aware of negative side effects- most drugs have them- which is why I asked if anyone on the forum has tried this treatment. I don’t want to cause myself yet more health issues so am presently undecided…
If you do start this ozempic and it works what happens when you stop or if drug just stops working?
This is the magic part Im talking about what backlash might you suffer with? No doctor can ever tell you this but I would highly recommend researching other users opinions (reviews) at drugs.com/comments/semaglut....
You should also type in the search bar Ozempic and thyroid cancer.
It's all the rage here in the US for doctors to prescribe it for weight loss even if the patient isn't diabetic. It's really stupid ozempic is in short supply
Yes, I’m starting some research into it. Not necessarily going to order and take it just because endo recommended. Thank you for the link, a great starting point x
i know this is an old post but interested to see if you took ozempic?i have hashis and i lost 1.6 stone on saxenda then ozempic. i was similar to you doing 15.000 steps a day and eating well. i lost weight on saxenda by reducing calories even more and doing 20-25,000 steps a day, so not exactly a miracle but helped me reduce my appetite. i’m just about to do my 6 monthly thriva test on thyroid, hormones and vitamins so i’m interested to see what that shows re: my internal health!
Hello, did you try Ozempic? How did it go?
I took it and lost a stone and 8 pounds but have gained back 10 pounds while on full dose so it’s not a miracle, and expensive. In my case I’m experiencing peri menopause and have hashimotos and ozrmpic simply allowed me to eat very little. But long term it’s not working as I’m still eating few calories and doing 20-25,000 steps a day but gaining weight at intervals
