Just a quick question can hypothyroid cause tonsil stones
Even after you have had your tonsils removed
Has anyone else ever experience this
Have had multiple scans and tubes stuck down my throat by the ENT and nothing

Hya strangely enough I've been having some strange gunk appearing randomly at the back of my throat all this year. Discoloured with a hard bit in it.
I assumed I was bringing it up out of my gut but my GP thinks I may have Adenoid Stones by the way I described it as suddenly happening and I've got to get it out of my mouth as quickly as possible as it makes me gag. ie it drops down onto my gag reflex. She asked me if I ever had tonsilitis but I didn't.
I've been to ENT twice already this year as I had complained of nasal and ear discomfort on my left side for ages and pain below ear and permanent sore throat, which has got worse. Had scope but nothing seen.
Anyway my good GP has referred me again with this new information.
My whole body seems to have quietly disintegrated with various odds and sods like this.
You don't say why you think it could be tonsil stones?
I know you can get stones in your salivary glands!
I can't find anyone else who has had Adenoid stones so I'm interested in your post.
cheers

I can't say if I've ever had tonsil stones. I was only about 10 when my tonsils and adenoids were removed.
But what I can tell you is that the amount of flesh surgeons remove when they take out the tonsils can vary enormously. I know this because one side of my throat has had far more flesh removed than the other side, so my throat is an odd shape. It has no effect on my quality of life at all. But a few doctors have commented on the shape of my throat.
If this can happen to me then presumably some people can have some of their tonsils left behind. And if that is the case then it seems possible that you could get tonsil stones in the remaining flesh.
My tonsil stones have completely stopped since starting levo! I suffered with them for years
Still with them and a constant sore throat they have me on 137mcg of levo finally getting to back to the dr now after 6 months as I lost my insurance hoping to find some relief from the many symptoms I have
