Weird thing going on as I previously posted I have been having swollen tonsil throat pain neck and itchy ear pain the dr has put me on Lipitor as my cholesterol was very high and was advised that it was due to the hashis
And now the pain has subsided
Has anyone else had this happen to them
I’m not sure if it’s the vitamin d the synthroid or the Lipitor making me feel better which I’m glad for but just weird
High cholesterol should drop as levothyroxine dose is increased
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

If it fits your symptoms then there are a limited number of things that doctors can prescribe, and they are worth trying.
However, from my personal experience I would say Eustachian Tube Dysfunction is not often diagnosed (even though I suspect it is fairly common) and when it is diagnosed it is poorly treated. I've had it for at least the last 10 years, it is intermittent, and sometimes I can get pain in my ears and throat. But doctors are just not interested in treating me. All I get offered is the same steroid nasal sprays that have been useless before.
I did get referred to an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) consultant and saw him about 18 months ago. He was offensive, insulting, and useless, so I don't have a good opinion of them.
Omg I am sorry the ENT treated you that way I had the same experience was referred to the ENT and he stuck the camera down my nose to my throat and said very nasty tone your throats pretty dry dint ya think I’m like I guess not that it’s my fault I feel like they have all given up on me Endo dr is useless to me as well I was explaining to him that there are over 300 symptoms of hypothyroidism and he was like well ya know you are getting your info from another source that is misleading you then I can’t treat you
I’m guessing he did not like being told that I am researching this disease myself and getting all the info

And yeah they just keep giving me these nasal steroids that don’t work

I get similar pain when I am under medicated.
I think I am under medicated Dr dint listen to me they dint like being told
What are your t3 and t4 levels with ranges? I get tested privately before going to Endo then I have a clear idea where I am and can make a case for a meds change. If I relied on my doc I’d have been stuck at 25mcg levo.
I had them done on 11/30/20And they only tested
me for the T4 and TSH
The T4 was 1.1
And the TSH (whatever that is) was 5.14
I have been having the primary do the bloodwork cause I have been through so many endos And she wants to do again this month
Those numbers don't look great (tsh is far too high for someone on meds) but when you get them done next time, make sure you also get the ranges. What you want is to be able to see where you are in the range for each thing. Do get T3 tested too. You could have brilliant t4 but awful T3 if your body doesn't convert well and ultimately you need a decent level of T3 to feel well.
She won’t test me all she does is the tsh and says everything is fine and the one I got she said was 4.3
You’ve come here because you want to feel better… so it seems your doc just isn’t helping properly… you are clearly under medicated if your tsh is 4.3 and you’re taking meds… so if I were you I’d be looking to change docs or just start self medicating as many do on here. Start off by getting your bloods tested privately - Medichecks or blue horizon or thrive - get the test done first thing before taking meds and a week away from taking vitamins with biotin in - and then post your T3 t4 and tsh results here, with the ranges, and you’ll get good advice. Basically the key measure is hiow high your T3 is. This tells you how much active thyroid hormone is circulating and most don’t feel well till it’s high in range. Have a good read here - you’ll see lots of people in the same boat.
How strange to read someone with very similar ear/throat pain to me. Never even thought it was remotely connected to my hypothyroidism. I ended up having a tonsillectomy Feb this year and still have same symptoms despite it. Saw ent consultant private a couple of weeks ago and he more or les said it was all in my head and there is nothing wrong! Still emailing him now as he first sent info on sensation of lump in throat, which I don't have then later for tmj disfunction which I very much doubt due to the length of time I've had it. I give up, what a complete waste of time and money.
So sorry you are still going through that I dint have my tonsils and the lump is still there where my tonsils were the pain is now back in my throat and ear and yeah the ent looks at me like I’m crazy and all in my head and I’m telling him to feel it it’s there feels like there are rocks in the lump now I have had a ct scan multiple tubes with a camera they dint find anything
Oh bless, I do emphasise with you, why oh why won't they listen? I've had investigations too which apart from an enlarged gland showed nothing, now paying for a scan next week but probably won't show anything. I showed the consultant my blood results I had with medicheck, quite low T3 but in range and he said they're "perfectly in range" and looked at me as if I was mad when I said it should be higher. I feel maybe I'm crazy too and making it up but the pain is real. Hope you feel better soon x
You are not crazy mama they just don’t know all the things that the thyroid is linked to and yes the pain is real this group has helped me a bunch it’s just ongoing Good luck with your scan

Thank you for your kind words, I'm sick of the pain and moaning about it. Scan this Friday, there's another £290 probably to be told there's nothing, not that I want them to find anything except an answer to this pain if that makes sense? Thought it may be glossopharengeal neuralgia but thankfully my pain isn't as severe as what I've read others experience plus I'm not keen to take epileptic or gabapentin drugs for it either. Never mind, I'll stop moaning now and thanks for reading x
I hope all will be well and you can get some answers I have to go back to the ENT as well I am developing pain everywhere even in my breast this is so crazy I have went down hill so fast in the last year since I was diagnosed I literally thought I was dying at one point
