Being low in thyroid hormones is not caused by low nutrient levels. Instead, low nutrient levels are likely to be caused by low thyroid hormone levels.
Once someone has low nutrient levels tolerance of prescribed T4 (i.e. Levo) is usually reduced.
If you have low levels of any nutrients and know your results and the associated reference ranges then if you post them we can possibly help you with improving them. Just post any results you have for any nutrients - ferritin (iron stores), vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D or any others. If you have the results of an iron panel that would help with interpretation too. And letting us know your thyroid results - TSH, Free T4, Free T3, Thyroid Antibodies - would tell us if you are adequately dosed.
Hi! My ferritin was high and b12 low at my last Medichecks Advanced Thyroid Function test! Also very low Vit D and deficient Folate. As I can’t tolerate meds or supplements, I am presently correcting this with Vitamin Transdermal Patches which seem to work very well. Wishing you all the best.
My goodness looks like we are on the same boat. How are you treating your thyroid? I’ve never heard of those patches . Will look into it. How do you react to supplements etc?
My mother had Pernicious Anaemia and later in her life the doctor told her "your blood tests are fine and you don't need any more B12 injections".
My sister and I thought that was 'good' and never thought that GPs could be so unknowledgeable about about any common autoimmune diseases. My mother developed stomach cancer due to her GP withdrawing regular B12 injections and we had to plead for more pain relief when she was dying. It was more than distressing.
