Should I increase my levothyroxine and is my vit d too high.

I increased my t3 to 50mcg per day and started taking it in one dose and it has now gone back up. Should I increase my levothyroxine now. I currently take 125mg per day. My vitamin d is 204nmol/L, is this too high and if it were, how would it effect me?

The NHS lab which offers fingerprick blood spot Vit D test to the public shows >50nmol/L as adequate with above 220nmol/L having increased risk of toxicity.

The Vit D Society and Grassroots Health recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L, with a recent blog post on Grassroots Health mentioning a study which recommends over 125nmol/L.

I keep mine around 150nmol/L and if I go over, eg last test showed 165nmol/L, then I reduce dose slightly to bring back down to 150nmol/L.

As for whether or not you should increase your Levo, it depends on how you feel with your current levels. It's a fine balancing act when on combination hormone replacement and only you can find your sweet spot with gradual tweaking of doses. If you increase your Levo dose you will increase your FT4 level and also increase your FT3 level depending on how much natural conversion of T4 to T3 you have, this could take your FT3 over range. If you need a higher FT4 and by increasing Levo your FT3 also increases, you may need to reduce your dose of T3.

Thank you so much for your advice. I think I will keep it as it is, so I don’t risk taking my t3 too high.

Regarding the vitamin d, is there a chance that level could cause nausea? I’ve had unexplained nausea for a few weeks and wondered if this could be the cause.

Yes it could and you should have your calcium level checked in case that's to high, hypercalcemia causes nausea.
