Hi, I have been taking selenium tablets for around a year. (I am underactive with Hashi) I have recently noticed that despite being active, my muscle definition has been lost in my legs and arms. I am not very overweight and yet my skin hangs. I have read that good quality selenium helps with this so am wondering if mine is not working anymore. I do not like brazil nuts so a few of them a day is not an option for me. Thanks for reading.

Selenium l-selenomethionine and yeast bound selenium are the recommended forms, they are the most absorbable. Selenite and selenate aren't recommended.
When I used selenium I used this one, it's a very small tablet and has virtually no odour (a lot of selenium supplements can have an unpleasant odour):

Lovely many thanks for taking the time to reply. Do you know the dosage we should be taking? Is it 200? x

Some people prefer to test first, but 100mcg is generally said to be a safe dose, 200mcg is often recommended when Hashi's is present. I certainly wouldn't go over 200mcg without testing.
If you're going for the Cytoplan one, they often have it on 3 for 2 so it's worth looking out for that and stocking up when it's on offer. It seems to be at the moment. Register for emails and they'll probably let you know when the offers are on.
