I should think they will put you at ease, so try not to worry. They problem do this procedure very often.
The following link might be helpful:-
I had a Fine needle aspiration sprung on me unexpectedly at my first thyroid ultrasound appointment when a nodule was found.
It will be guided by ultrasound. I had local anaesthetic & the doctor had me gently bite end of tongue which helps prevent movement from swallowing & it was completed very quick.
They may take a few samples from the area as sometimes the a sample can be insufficient.
It was all very straightforward with no issues.
I went to work after and it was a active 3 hours shift.
I hope all goes well Crystalynn. Do post and let us know how you get on! 👍😊
I went and they did an ultrasound before the biopsy was going to be done and he said the nodules shrank they are really small so there was no need he said to me and reassured me there was no cancer he said cancer only gets bigger not smaller thank you all on here I really love having a place to go with people that have the same issues
It is a quick and easy procedure. I nearly dozed off! A lot less painful than the dentist injection. There is a numbing cream that they use for childrens injections, it just numbs the skin for a minute or two. If you are really worried, ask if they can use this first, but, honestly, it is not painful.
I did ask if they could do a bit of cosmetic surgery while they were there, take out a few wrinkles etc, but oddly enough, they refused!
