thyroid biopsy ....: can anyone tell me what its... - Thyroid UK
thyroid biopsy ....
Juls,
I found the procedure uncomfortable simply because you have to lie down with your throated presented upwards. Local anaesthetic is applied to the neck so it is not painful. I found it surreal to see the needle moving into the gland on screen but not to feel it. There will be some bruising and swelling for a few days after and your neck will feel sore/tender but nothing that a couple of painkillers won't deal with.
really hmmmm. cant se that working very well
Just had one 3 weeks ago. Not painful. Initially the anesthetic is like getting a blood draw poke, then I literally felt no pain. Took about 15 minutes total. Don't be afraid it is easy, and I am a big chicken...
so you had local anesthetic given prior. ? not the cream stuff ..? oh god that would be better then the cream .
Juls there is nothing to worry about. I had it done in 2013. They scan the thyroid to see what was going on. They used a ulterior scan to look inside the thyroid first. It was gel it wasn't that bad. That's when they saw something was not quite right. They call me back for another test and they used the gel again to look at the same thing and then draw some out for a sample. There is nothing to it. Your be alright. Good luck.xx
yeah heard a few had bother with it... i hate needles ..already had a scan and been told it is suspicious of malignancy. so its another scan with the biopsy then talked about removing the part of the thyroid where it is.. but i dont no why they need a biopsy maybe they wont she just said the scan was to probe the lump .. hope they dont need to do the fna .. hahah
