Hello my friends,

I got my labs back and

TSH -- .063 ( 0.045 to 4.5 UL)

T3 -- 3.1 (2.0 to 4.4 pg/ml)

T4 -- .89 (.82 to 1.77 ng/dl

I take 15 mcg Liothyrorine and 50 mcg of Unithroid every day

Before the test, I took 5 mcg Lio 8 hours before the test, and took unithroid 24 hrs before the test no coffee, food only water

i am happy with my T3, but T4 is low. When I see the endo he is going to be mad that for the last 2 months i changed my lio from 10 mcg to 15 mcg. without his okay.

So I figure that if he makes me cut down lio to 10 mcg, I will ask him to increase my unithroid to 75 mcg.

I feel pretty good these days. But the endo is very cautious about Lio due to known side effects of afib with many people. (however not me)

What are your thoughts? Thank you!!

A very wise (now retired) old school endocrinologist told me that so long as the thyroid hormones are kept in range than no harm will be caused. As you are doing this you dont need to worry about Afib.

I would be honest with your endo over what you have done -the blood tests results show that you have done the right thing. If he/she dont like it then tough! What is there to argue against as your bloods look pretty good. T4 is the storage form of thyroid hormone and in some people on combination therapy can be lower but if you feel fine theres no noeed to worry. You could ask for a raise in your levothyroxine but maybe weigh that one up in the consultation??? You never know he/she may even suggest it!!

Your T3 needs to be a little higher. Don't push your T4 because it will only turn to RT3. Your T4 should be around 50% and your T3 60-70% this is when Dio2 is happiest.
