T3 GOOD, T4?

I just got some bloods back. My FT3 is 3.8 range is 2.3-4.2 pgmL & my TT3 is 131, range 76-181 ng/dL My FT4 is 0.9 range is 0.8-1.8 ng/dL & TT4 is 6.1 range is 4.9-10.5 mcg/dL My question is this: I'm taking 100 mcg of T4 and 25 of T3 for these results and am trying to decide on leaving it at that or going back down to 75 T4 & 25 T3, where I feel maybe just a slight bit better. Should I go back to 75 T4 & 25 T3 or stay on 100 T4 & 25 T3? My endo has me on 75 mcg T4 & 20 mcg T3 so I am supplementing myself by 5 mcg of T3 to 25 on both doses. I realize that "most" hypothyroid patients claim to feel better when both FT4 & FT3 are both in upper 3/4 brackets through & I'm very curious about my FT4 being so low, does it mean it's converting and maybe I should just raise the FT4 to 100 (or more) & lower the FT3 to 20. In that case I have to supplement 5 mcg of T3 because anytime my endo raises the T4 he lowers the FT3 by 10 mcg's. Peace to all, thanks in advance of any answers.

It is a very individual thing and the only way to know is by trial and error.

You have the knowledge as you realise that changes to your t4 dose will affect your t3 levels. So you just have to do what you feel is right for you. Stick to that decision monitoring symptoms for 6 weeks. Do bloods and take it from there.

It is a fine balancing act and a slow process.

That is true for people on T4 only. When you start taking T3, your FT4 will drop. That is perfectly normal, and a lot of people feel well with a low FT4 and a high-ish to high FT3. There is no level that your FT4 is supposed to be. You need as much as you need.

How long have you been on 100 mcg levo and 25 mcg T3? It takes at least six weeks for a dose to settle for you to know if you are well on it. But, if you've been on 100+25 for more than six weeks, and know that you felt better on 75+25, then by all means drop back down. It's where you feel well that counts, not the size of the dose nor the levels of the Frees. Do what's best for you, because only you live in your body, so only you can know. :)

You always give an intelligent diagnoses, unlike so many GP's & endo's. Many thanks for being who you are.
