I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease in 2018 by Dr Wilson in Maynooth, been on NDT and have been battling with my GP in Belfast about what to do. He's now referred me to an endocrinologist at the Ulster Hospital. Anyone been there? Any experiences? I was prescribed Eltroxin, Thybon and LDN by Dr Wilson recently and will have to get them in ROI because pharmacies can't get LDN here and the price for T3 is crazy. It's such a battle and very hard to push on when you're so unwell! How do you deal with it, fellow Hashis? I'd appreciate any insights! xx

Endocrinologist in Belfast, Ulster Hospital?
Your original Dr seems to be very clued in with treatmentsto match newer approaches to hashis. They are like dinosaurs in NI, never mind waiting times! Dr Simon Au is quite cheap privately, he is lovely and willing to think outside the box. You could try him. Simeone else may know another but they seem few and far between here. Good luck. Xx
ThyroidUK website worth having a look forThyroid medication private pharmacies, baseline testing options and a list of recommended Practitioners some of whom will work virtually. In NI it is possible to get T3 with a prescription from either RoI or UK for personal use.
It might be that its better to continue with Dr Wilson if he's prepared to monitor you virtually and have blood taken at one of the NI private clinics/hospitals? Ironically the blood laboratory used is in Dublin. There are other UK private testing options available but the issue now seems to be Brexit and its outworking.
Websites such as Dr Weston Childs and Dr Isabella Wenz give practical suggestions as to how to lower the antibodies perpetuating the auto immune aspect of Hashimoto's.
