Well I would say that it would seem that you are one of those people that Metavive doesn't work for, we've had other members not do well on it. It doesn't declare any hormone content and your results would seem to show that.
What's happening about your dire Ferritin level? Presumably your GP is addressing this?
Can you believe my doctor said he wants to check iron again with thyroid bloods in 2 months so he didn't prescibe any iron😮
The results already tell him it's iron deficiency and to investigate, he should be doing an iron panel and full blood count now. Can you see a different doctor, it's ludicrous to leave it as it is.
I've just sent a note to the doctors as I thought that to ...
Hi,He absolutely needs to do more investigations, I do not know why some Drs are like this! Please do not ignore the issue and make complaints to the NHS or ICA! I have seen so many of these Drs, they should not be allowed to simply behave like this!
les121,
Metevive II is a glandular & considered to be a dietary OTC supplement.
As such it is produced & sold in measured units that are not subject to the usual licensing laws of prescription meds because the hormone amounts are so small and totally inadequate in replacing a standard Levothyroxine dose.
NDT is regulated and will provide the correct amount of thyroid hormone replacement measured in grains. If you want to self-medicate an NDT ask members to provide their suppliers details in a private message but be aware any thyroid hormone replacement meds whether Levothyroxine or NDT require adequate iron levels to work or risk not being well tolerated.
I take Metavive, but take it with my Levo. As someone else has said, it’s a supplement and I don’t think would be strong enough to take on its own. I take 5 tablets on top of 200mcg of Levo.
Assuming you have ever felt well on Levo, when you just took Levo on it’s own how much were you taking? Did you drop some Levo and add Metavive?
I'm so sorry Metavive II hasn't worked for you les121 🙁 but wouldn't want it to put off others from trying Metavive as we're obviously all very different.........
I've been on Metavive II for the last year after many years on Levo, then Thiroyd.
After private testing last week to monitor TSH, FT4, T3, plus vit D, the results that ame back were encouraging: borderline low TSH, good ft4 and T3 - as well as borderline high vitamin D.
Now pretty old and looking back on health history, I'm wondering whether the last three or so years of mostly gluten free diet and frequent injections of B12 for B12def/PA (also known as autoimmune metaplastic atrophic gastritis) , has possibly improved the health of my thyroid? as well as almost every other system/organ.
This particular testing company, Forth, included a note that B vitamins support the thyroid.......
PS With such low ferritin results, I hope they'll test B12 and folate. Any B12 supplements taken though will have skewed results.
