I’ve just read a post on Facebooks Hashimoto’s 411 suggesting we stop Vit D at least 3 days before blood tests, seems a lot were unaware of this (including myself I had bloods taken last week)....
Wondered what the experienced and admins on TUK thoughts were on this ?

I stop a couple of days before purely because it can make it harder to get a good flow for finger prick tests. It’s fat stored so theoretically don’t see any harm in taking up until day before
No, first time I ordered a vitamin D test with City Assays in Birmingham, I spoke to them on the phone about stopping in advance of the test and was told not to. I think you would have to stop for a very long time to get a true picture of your vitamin D. If you keep taking it you know what you are taking and you know your vitamin D levels are on that amount of vitamin D. If your levels are low (and they can be even if you are taking vitamin D, or mine can) then take more vitamin D and if they are high you can cut back if you want.
My old GP told me to stop taking my vitamin D a week before the blood test. Now the hospital consultant does it and he hasn't given me that advice. I do stop it a week before though
