Help with interpreting results

Hi all,

Had my results back from medichecks just need some help interpreting them? They’ve put my TSH as normal however I’m going to be trying to conceive in the next few months so ideally it needs to be lower (not sure how to approach my gp about this?!), I’m diagnosed with Hashimotos and obviously antibodies are an issue on these results. I also had vitamins tests but couldn’t figure out how to upload a second photo, that indicated I’m borderline deficient in vitamin D (33 n/mol) but ok for folate, ferratin and b12.

You can only add one photo in opening post

You can add an image in a reply (click on square with mountain in it)

Obviously vitamin D is insufficient

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

Was test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Low vitamin D obviously needs improving and GP should prescribe 1600iu everyday for 6 months

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

Vitamin D

GP will often only prescribe to bring levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But with Hashimoto’s, improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function. There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7

It’s trial and error what dose we need, with hashimoto’s we frequently need higher dose than average

Thyroid results

Ft4 is 31% through range

Ft3 is 32% through range

Helpful calculator for working out percentage through range

chorobytarczycy.eu/kalkulator

So good conversion, but very likely to need dose increase in levothyroxine

Generally patients aiming for Ft3 and Ft4 roughly 60% through range

Obviously all four vitamins need to be optimal

What are actual results of folate, ferritin and B12

Are you currently taking any vitamin supplements?

These are vitamin results. Not supplementing at the moment as was waiting for results to come back. What supplements are recommended? I’ve read about iodine however there’s mixed info about it in relation to Hashimotos I’ve read it can make it worse? But also iodine is important to supplement in pregnancy for when I get pregnant so I’m confused on what to do with that.

B12 and folate?

Ferritin is reasonable. Generally recommended to maintain over 70

Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet

(Not recommended to eat liver when pregnant these days)

Levothyroxine contains iodine, so shouldn’t need more. Correct extra iodine not recommend with Hashimoto’s

Are you on strictly gluten free diet?
