Not thyroid but as COVID vaccinations are a hot topic I thought it would be OK to mention this superb presentation on vaccines from Chris Whitty. It covers the history, different types and finally COVID-19 vaccines. I was surprised at how many vaccinations we have now. It has a few topics so it is easy to break off if you don't fancy watching for an hour.

I found that quite interesting🙂
Thanks for posting, it sounds very interesting
That was really interesting, thanks for posting 👍
In ordinary times, probably not.
But as most here will either have had, or will be offered a vaccination against Covid-19 in the near future, it is relevant to most of us.
It is from a bona fide source (not that we'd expect anyone to accept what it says without applying their own thoughts and critical faculties).
The effects of vaccination on those suffering thyroid disorder, likely an autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's, Ord's, Graves) are highly relevant. Having not yet watched it, I cannot comment further, but it seems entirely appropriate for us to try to understand the issues ahead of our appointments.

My husband had his jab on Wednesday and his arm is very sore and he can hardly lift it. Hopefully this will lessen as time goes on. I am probably going to be sent for shortly because I am 61 but I am going to delay mine because I am still suffering from the after affects of covid which I got 3 weeks ago. It has affected my taste and I keep getting pains in my legs all the time so I don't want anymore symptoms if I have the jab.
That seems sensible. There was even a proposal (from Israel or somewhere) that people in your situation may need one jab instead of two. In your shoes I would delay and seek out the best advice.
Yes I am going to delay it. My husband had his 28 days after having tested positive for covid. He asked the pharmacist about this and he was told the vaccine might not work as well because he probably had a lot of covid antibodies in his system. They have booked him in for his second jab in May as well.
I wouldn’t usually post it but many thyroid patients are worried about COVID vaccinations and we seem to have forgot (or in my case be unaware) of how many vaccinations we have nowadays. I thought it might put peoples at rest. I didn’t mention it but I think in the longer term we may have vaccines against some of the infections that trigger autoimmune hypothyroidism and other autoimmune conditions.
I’m doing a lot of research into how the body regulates local thyroid hormone action and the more I learn the more important it seems to avoid hypothyroidism in the first place. You will probably guess I’m in favour of vaccination if it can prevent disease. We can’t go struggling to try and treat two percent (or whatever number) of the population with damaged thyroids or disrupted thyroid action.
