Autoimmune conditions (Hashi’s/Graves’s) and the COVID-19 vaccination

We are receiving a lot of queries from people who have thyroid autoimmune disease and who have been offered the COVID-19 vaccination.

At present there is no research on people with autoimmune diseases and the COVID-19 vaccine. It is known that some people will have some minor side effects but not everyone.

The vaccine is NOT obligatory although, of course, it would be safer for you and everyone else around you to have it.

As soon as any research is published on this topic, we will be informing people via our membership and our social media. If you haven't already, you could take a look at our poll to see what people who have thyroid disease are saying - healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I had my vivid-19 moderna part 1 vaccine on January 26, three weeks after I am having dizziness, nausea. Part 2 due on February 23. Don’t know if it’s a vaccine reaction. I am hashimoto thyroid.

First, thanks for reporting. I do believe all reports are pooled whether through MHRA or the companies.

Second, what happens when you go to the poll?

Hi there... I have just come on health unlocked to see if anyone else was getting any reactions. I had mine 3 weeks ago too and my lips are really painful and seem to be shedding skin all the time. Don’t feel fabulous either. Very grateful that I have had the vaccine and want the second dose but just wondering what is going on. I also have lupus and wondering if the vaccine has kickstarted a flare....

I’ve still got this problem about following a link and then it tells me to log in although I’m logged in.

I’m very worried about the vaccine having multiple auto immune health issues.

I have not been put on any clinically vulnerable list although on Hydroxy and Budesonide and not in great health but I dont want to push it as I’m so worried about having a vaccine so thank you for this post x

Can you try using a different browser?

Thank you. Will do. I think its because I’m on an iphone only. My profile is bottom right x

Yes - I appreciate it is different! :-)

It is possible to install, for example, Firefox on an iPhone - but not a particularly good route to go most of the time.

I’ve sent a message to HU. What is the survey about please? x

Experiences of having Covid-19 vaccinations.

In summary, which one did you have and did you have any unexpected side effects.

And have you tried just logging in again? :-)

Are you on latest release of IOS?

I really need to see that to be better informed. Hopefully HU can sort out my technical issues. Thank you x

I stated that it would be safer to have it as the research is showing that it is protecting people from serious illness, hospitalisations and death.

Of course, everyone has a choice and they much make that choice by looking at the evidence and their own personal circumstances.

I wish you was my friend, I feel I’m being pushed to take it by being put on a guilt trip. I’m making myself physically sick with fear about being blackmailed into having something put in me I don’t want. I don’t trust it and I told my Dr today who threw the guilt card at me like everyone eles is doing. My Dr also told me if I don’t take it then I will be be stopped from doing things in the future when the health card comes in to place.

It is entirely up to you if you want it or not so don't be bullied into anything. All I will say is I am just recovering from covid (4 weeks ago) and it was very unpleasant. I still have some lingering symptoms and it has affected my taste and last night I took one mouthful of my dinner and couldn't eat it because it tasted horrible! I was wary about the jab but now I wish I had been given it because I hate not being able to enjoy my food. My daughter also caught covid and she is pregnant and has only just got her taste back after 2 months. I am hoping this will happen for me but I have heard some people never regain their taste.
