Hypothyroidism - classed as vulnerable or not - Covid-19?

Just wondered if anyone knows whether people with thyroid issues would be considered more vulnerable to illness or severity of illness with Covid-19? Especially those with Hashimoto’s? Have any of our folks had what they think might be Covid-19? If so how have you felt/are feeling?

Someone is asking this question practically every day. Look at the previous posts - and the top pinned post on the right. The general consensus seems to be that there is no added risk - but if you are anxious, it makes sense to self-isolate anyway.

Others may believe there is no risk.

Believe that if you like but we will not know the actual truth for a long while yet.

The most vulnerable people in the UK are being notified this week. You will receive a letter telling you to log on to the Gov.uk website where you can register to have priority from home delivery from supermarkets. You can check online if you are in this category if you have other health conditions. Hypothyroidism is not on any list regarding vulnerability. I know that with diabetes, a heart condition and at 69 I am classed as vulnerable. I can therefore use the slots allocated by supermarkets to shop. These are first thing. Obviously I have no entitlement to priority click and collect or delivery services. I think the Government guidelines are very clear. I am currently only leaving home to shop once a week. Being inventive with what is available. I also had to collect my prescription items.

I am afraid that if hypothyroidism is your only condition and you are not required to have the annual flu jab by your doctor you fall into the same category as the bulk of the population. Be sure to check that you are not in the most vulnerable category by going online to the aGov.uk website. Take care.
