Hi fibre diets?

Hello, if you have a high fibre breakfast how long do you leave between thyroxine and the food?

Also, does total fibre consumed in a day impact absorption? An old article I found seems to indicate that which is news to me (I don’t want to give up my fibre!) I thought it was just the gap between the Levo and the breakfast.

If you take your thyroid hormones (with one glass of water) usually when we get up and wait one hour before eating I believe that fibre wont interfere with the uptake of thyroid hormones.

That’s what I’m finding when I search.

An additional question; if for example you add nuts and seeds or have muesli with yogurt would you wait more than an hour? I never have but now wondering! There’s also an increasingly popular thing for grinding seeds for female hormones at the moment. So sesame and flax etc. Sesame contains calcium and magnesium as well as fibre.

Is one hour enough?

One way to find out is to do it and see how things turn out. If your results are skewed or you get symptoms then it isn't right for you.

Yes I think I’m switching the seed thing to the evening or midday anyway. Around 20 years ago though I really didn’t think about museli and impact on thyroxine absorbtion.

I think that the majority of people would have no idea about hypothyroidism before they're diagnosed. Even if I had heard that word I'd have no knowledge at all which it meant.

Neither did any of the countless doctors I consulted as none was capable of diagnosing a patient through symptoms alone. Our old-fashioned doctors did know and we were diagnosed through symptoms alone - there were no blood tests then.

One of TUK's Advisers (now deceased) stated that blood tests were introduced by Big Pharma as they could envisage increasing their profits. Ithink they've certainly achieved that worldwide.

I have no solid answers but I wanted to let you know that these are the kind of thoughts that whir round my mind! Is it OK to eat yogart at breakfast etc I love pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds... How much oat milk to have in tea... I do leave an hour between taking the Levo and eating to be on the safe side...

I take my Levo when I get up in the night for the loo. Then no problems with breakfast or the array of other tablets I take.

How old are the small humans. I got so fed up one night I tucked some in with daughter and never had another peep. But now in old age there’s always a window for a Levo stop.
