Parkinsons, DBS and Thyroid

Anyone with thyroid issues also have Parkinson’s ?

I have both and have just had DBS (deep Brain stimulation) in an effort to eliminate my tremor on the Parkinson’s side. The issue currently seems to be that my neurosurgeon sets my pulse generator to eliminate the tremor checks my balance/ gait and i shuffle off home. Within a day the tremor is back as strong as ever. Retuning doesn’t help . If he switches the machine off, the true level of the tremor can be seen (v high)so proves that the device is working, just need to ascertain where the extra tremor is coming from ?

I found one medical paper whereby a 61 year old lady had similar issues (thyroid, Parkinson’s, DBS) whereby her thyroid generated tremor was “ topping up” and constantly disrupting her dbs.

I appreciate that people with thyroid,,parkinsons and DBS is a small subset, Has anyone else experienced this or if you have tremor created by thyroid, how do you control it ?

I have UAT and PD but have not had DBS.

You are more likely to get help with DBS if you ask on the Parkinsons Movement forum on Health Unlocked.
