Ferritin rising no supplements

Hiya My question what can make ferritin rise? I've always had trouble trying to raise ferritin in the past so had to take iron tablets I got it up over many months to 88. But I have had no supplements for a long while now and I dont eat meat infact my diet and

weight loss is not good atm it hasnt been since lockdown started but I cant understand my ferritin is creeping up quite quickly not over range but at its highest without the supplements its now shot from 148ng/mo to 180ng/ml since Sept range 15-300 I'd be happy with it if I knew I'd been on a iron rich diet anyone any ideas ?

Yes it's very strange but I ask for full iron test but my GP says it's all fine by these results being as I had to take supplements for ages to get it to 88

I understand that high Ferritin and low Iron can be a symptom of chronic illness 😞

Ferritin can rise due to inflammation of Hashimoto’s

It doesn’t necessarily mean you have high iron levels too.

Ideally should get full iron panel test annually to check

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Mitral valve is linked to having Hashimoto’s

Thank You SlowDragon I'll read up on it atm I'm was taking 100 to 125 now I'm dropping to alternate days as t4 slightly over but T3 top of range suppressed tsh as usual! Interesting I do have some slight mitral valve regurgitation I'm due for another ECG I think just to check it but my Cardio at the time nothing to worry about my heart is strong or something like that

Are vitamin D, folate and B12 optimal

My ferritin is way over range and rising at each test ...but iron not high....

pretty common with Hashimoto’s .....especially after menopause.

in reply toSlowDragon
