Help with results

Hello,

I was hoping someone would look at my latest results. I now take 125mg T4 and 20mg of T3. I am still symptomatic with inability to lose weight. Should my T4 be higher and T3 be lower?

Thanks!

TSH 0.02 (0.27-4.2)

Free Thyroxine - 13.9 (12-22)

T3 - 10.7 (3.1-6.8)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 208 (<34)

When did you take last dose of each before the test? Last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before test, last dose of T3 should be 8-12 hours before the test.

If you left those time gaps and your results are accurate, then you are way over range with your FT3.

Where we need our levels is individual to us, some on combination hormone replacement are fine with a low FT4, others need it higher in range. Personally I need both FT4 and FT3 balanced at around 70% through range. You have to find the right balance yourself, but certainly your FT3 should not be over range like that.

Thanks! Yes my doses were taken that far apart. Levo previous morning and T3 night before. I have been trying to get my doses right for 2 years and just can’t seem to manage it. Would you recommend I drop my T3 and increase T4?

Yes, your results seem to suggest that but don't change both at once. I would suggest you reduce your T3 first by 5mcg and retest 6 weeks later, see where your levels lie then. It should reduce your FT3 and might increase your FT4 a little bit as well (this is because taking T3 tends to lower FT4) but it might not, just see what the next set of results are and reassess the situation. It can take a lot of gradual tweaking get the balance right.

Your high TPO antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s

Presumably you knew this

ESSENTIAL to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

When were these last tested

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

As you have Hashimoto’s are you on strictly gluten free diet

Results suggest you might need slightly higher dose levothyroxine, but less T3

Perhaps reduce T3 to 3 x 5mcg

Presumably when you did test you only took 5mcg at bedtime before test?

Perhaps Increase levothyroxine to 137mcg

Hi Slow Dragon, Yes it might be an idea for me to re-test my vitamins. Actually, i take my T3 in one dose 20mg so I took 20mg before bed and tested the next morning. Was that too much to take 9 hours before testing?

Far too much

Even if you normally take as single dose

On day before test we advise splitting dose

Split into 3 doses ....10mcg waking, 5mcg mid afternoon and 5mcg at bedtime

Not what you're looking for?
