I’m on 2 1/4 grains of NDT my recent blood test showed my t3 just over range and I haven’t been feeling good. With NDT can you reduce 1/4 every other day or do you have to have the same amount of NDT each day?

Ndt
that's fine, I take 2 and a half every other day so 2 &1/4 each day
It won't do any harm to reduce a 1/4 every other day. But is you feeling not so good down to your thyroid condition/meds?
What are your symptoms?
Loose bowls, pain behind eyes, pains in legs, head pressure headaches, and some palpitations oh and tinnitus. I’ve just changed from nature thyroid to erfa
I'm no expert, I'm still learning myself, but having just over the range Free T3 does not necessarily mean overmedication. Some people's optimal dose gives them a Free T3 of just over the range and they feel good. Having said that, loose bowels are often an indication of overmedication. Muscular pains, tension headaches, palpitations and tinnitus are symptoms you can have with either overmedication or undermedication. If the heartbeat is fast, that's a more clear indication of overmedication than palpitations.
If your vitamin B12, Folate, Iron, Ferritin and Vitamin D are optimal, then I would agree that decreasing by 1/4 every other day or even daily would be the next step.
I don't know how changing brands might affect things.
Hello Flo-jo :
With NDT you treat to the relief of symptoms and not a blood test score card.
You go low and slow in 1/4 grain increments weekly, and when, one week you feel a little worse, not better, drop back down that last 1/4 grain increase to the previous weeks dose.
Stay on this lower dose for 6-8 weeks and then have a blood test, if you want to see where your T3 is compared to the bench mark number you took before you started the trial.
NDT was successfully used for over 100 years prior to the " science " and the doctor would simple dispense a little nugget of pig thyroid for a patient to chew on, who was experiencing symptoms of hypothyroidism.
If the patient came back improved, but not better, a larger nugget of pig thyroid was given, so forth and so on until the patient found the best size nugget for them to chew on.
The blood tests, guidelines and ranges were all introduced to be used alongside Levothyroxine - T4 - launched by Big Pharma to supersede NDT treatment.
Ok thank you I’ve decreased by a 1/4
Hi flo-jo100
I would drop daily dose by 1/4 grain and retest after 6-8 weeks, make note of how you are feeling. If you notice symptoms of hypo creeping back in then add in an extra 1/8th of a tablet. I normally take 1 and 1/2 grains daily but add an extra 1/8th during the winter months. Sorry I can't be of more help, it is a case of tweaking until you feel good.

I am on 2.5 NDT a day (1.5 in the morning, 1 at night so I dont seem to crash mid afternoon) If I start feeling a wee bit jittery, I drop the evening one for a day, and then carry on as normal. It may not be science, but it suits me!
