Tinnitus and the thyroid.

I have had ear issues since I was a child and developed tinnitus at around 15-16.

I am currently 27 with a potential thyroid problem and have been exporiencing a massive consistant flare of my tinnitus , to it becoming almost unbearable.

I was curious if my preexisting tinnitus will be worsened by the presence of thyroid disease and if their is any steps towards relief?

I don't know the answer to your question in relation to thyroid.

What I can say is that some people claim their tinnitus improves when they optimise their levels of vitamin B12. And since the body needs folate in order to make use of vitamin B12, it makes sense to optimise both if at all possible.

I hope that optimisation and improvement is the answer I'm looking for and that I'm not stuck with worsening of my tinnitus.

Thank you for the information, appreciate it.

Previous post last week you were looking at getting FULL thyroid and vitamin testing as you have Hashimoto’s

This may reveal low vitamin levels

Yeah, that's delayed at the moment, also I'm due to see an endocrinologist after an A&E trip, what disappointments can I expect? (Referred because of high tpo and my complaints of palpations)

Rare to get referral to endocrinologist for Hashimoto’s

Recommend getting full thyroid and vitamin testing done privately BEFORE seeing any endocrinologist

Most endocrinologists are diabetes specialists

Thyroid specialists are as rare as hens teeth

Email Dionne at Thyroid UK for list of recommend thyroid specialist endocrinologists...NHS and Private

Understood, I will contact Dionne immediately, thank you for the heads up about endocrinologist, disappointing how underappreciated and lack of special care for the thyroid their is, considering how important a role it plays.

Levothyroxine is second most prescribed medication in U.K.

there are over 2 million people in the U.K. on thyroid medication (research suggest many more people remain undiagnosed)

There are over 112,000 members on here. By far the largest group on Healthunlocked
