M/23/160lbs/UK

have been having very strange symptoms for quite some time now such as drastic fluctuations in my TSH numbers ( one week it is 1.3 and two weeks later it is 3.0 and so on ) unable to tolerate cold weather including random tremors/shivering, joint and muscle pains, fatigue making it hard to do much, periods of really bad brain fog, high levels of anxiety and feeling depressed for no reason, unable to lose fat around belly even when dieting, occasional difficulty with swallowing/lump feeling in throat area, dry skin / psoriasis issues that seem to flare up on face and scalp...

I’ve attached a screenshot of my blood results from medichecks, hopefully you guys are able to view it, if not please tell me so I can type it up here instead :)

with your symptoms and levels it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for a trial of Levothyroxine to supplement.

I will try to push my GP for a trial of Levo as they keep brushing my levels and symptoms as normal and just Part of “anxiety”

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid

Did you test vitamins too?

If not, ask GP to test vitamin levels and cholesterol

High cholesterol linked to being hypothyroid

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

Psoriasis suggests autoimmune thyroid disease

20% of Hashimoto's patients never have raised antibodies

Request ultrasound scan of thyroid

Hi SlowDragon, I tested everything else (vitamins, cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney/liver function etc) and they all came back either perfect or top of the range, only thing I haven’t tested is cortisol... could this be causing thyroid to act up??

Vitamins certainly look ok

Presumably you supplement?

Or are these natural results?

I get Zinc, Vit C, Vit D, B complex and Magnesium through supplementation and Calcium through plant milk.

Do you think it would be wise to try a low dose of Levo (25mg) if i can get it through the gp with My results or should i try an OC NDT supplement??

So essential to stop any supplements that contain biotin a week before ALL BLOOD TESTS..ie vitamin B complex

At the time of the test I was not taking anything containing biotin, so i dont think thats causing it to rise..
