On T4 and T3 - feeling very unwell for the past week

Hello folks,

I've been taking T4 since Oct 2019 and T3 since August 2020. I'm now having some symptoms - headaches, extreme fatigue, depressive thoughts, body aches, blotchy skin, generally feeling unwell. Reduces after eating. But returns.

I take 125 mg of T4 in the morning along with 10mcg T3. I also take 10mcg T3 around 12.30pm. Generally I have felt better since taking T3, and had more energy to get through busy days but the past week I've been feeling very fatigued in the morning, feeling depressed and also have a headache/aura. Sometimes I wake up hungry in the night, and/or with a headache. Also my body aches, my skin in my face is blotchy, and I feel irritated most of the time. I tend to feel better after eating. I'm wondering why this is because I eat balanced meals every 3-4 hours to keep my blood sugar steady but it still feels like it drops quickly. I used to get these symptoms before I started taking T4, and usually after I'd been busy or after exercising. Now for the past week, they just seem to come whenever.

Here are my latest bloods from September:

FT4: 1.01 (0.93-1.7)

FT3: 3.8 (2.0-4.4)

TSH: 0.018

HDL cholesterol: 37 (>50)

LDL cholesterol: 81 (<130)

Ferritin: 191.8(15-150)

B12: 610 (100-835) gone down from 655.2 in June. Am taking daily supplement

Vit D in June 2020: 47.78 (30-100) taking daily supplement.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Thank you

Your Ferritin is high . Usually it means that you have some sort of inflammation. You may want to have your Dr check your liver. Your FT3 and FT4 look fine. Your TSH is very low.

Best Wishes.

Hello, thanks for the reply. Yes, my ferritin has been increasing steadily over the past year. It came down a bit for a mi the or two, but then started going up again. I had a scan of my liver, and I was told I have a bit of a fatty liver (non alcoholic). Endo said my TSH would be low because of T3?
