Bloods poor conversion & Levo

Please could anyone offer advice about what to do, I am currently taking Levo of 110mcg per day since May 2020, I have tried in vain to increase my dose, each time I suffer increased bowel movements, then constant afternoon fatigue. Last week I had heart palpitations, dizziness and started slurring my words. I have now reduced my dose again to elevate the present symptons.

Last bloods on the 8th August (managed to rearrange for morning blood test),

T4 16.7.range 10 - 24.5

T3 3.6 range 3.1 - 6.8

TSH 1.1

My vitamins have not been tested since May 2020, but we're pretty good.

I have been taking selenium for the past 5 weeks. All other supplements remain the same. I am a poor converter, previously taken NDT, came off this in February 2020 as NHS endo refused to see me on this medication. In desperation, I have booked a private endo appointment tomorrow morning to ask for T3. Any advice would be much appreciated.

My last iron result was from May 2020, 83.4 range 13 - 150.

Is that the only iron-related test you have had?

Yes it is, my next test is booked for 6th October, Iron B12 and FSH, Gamma GT, HbA1, liver function test.

Inadequate iron can reduce the ability to convert T4 to T3.

Suggest post again when you get the new results. :-)

Thank you for your advice. I hope I can hang on until the 6th October... feel absolutely dreadful! Will persevere! ☺️

It's useful to have your percentages readily to hand.

On these results, free T4 was 46% through range (not that good) and free T3 was a feeble 13.5% through range. So you're under-medicated, and as you say. don't convert well.

Hope endo appointment goes well x
