When on NDT one expects to see TSH low or suppressed, FT4 lowish in it's range and FT3 in the upper part of it's range when optimally medicated.
It's essential to test FT3 when on NDT (or T3 or a synthetic T4/T3 combination).
Testing magnesium is unreliable. About 99% of magnesium is stored in bone, muscles and soft tissues, leaving about 1% in the blood. So testing what's in the blood isn't giving an accurate picture of our magnesium status.
B12 is low. Is that pmol/L or ng/L or pg/ml (the latter two are the same).
Is your NDT prescribed? If so it's important you emphasise the necessity of testing FT3, it's the most important test when on NDT. If it's not prescribed then just do a private test that includes TSH, FT4 and FT3 - Monitor My Health is the cheapest for the basic test if you are in the UK:
According to an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:
"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".
"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."
Many people with a B12 level in the 300s have been found to need B12 injections.
Do you have any signs of B12 deficiency – check here:
If you do then list them to discuss with your GP and ask for testing for B12 deficiency and Pernicious Anaemia. Do not take any B12 supplements or folic acid/folate/B Complex supplements before further testing of B12 as this will mask signs of B12 deficiency and skew results.
If you don't have any signs you could take a good quality, bioavailable B Complex such as Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B.
Yes the Thyroid 60mg is prescribed but I have been telling my GP I feel so tired all the time and foggy headed. Lie BP and pulse rate. I have asked for meds to be raised so she did bloods again but no T3 as the locality says it’s not indicated. Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I appreciate it.
