WP Thyroid recall

Hi everyone.

I mentioned this in another post but it got buried in the main topic, so I thought I'd ask here. I am signed up to various sites regarding thyroid and received an email from Dr Weston Childs that mentioned issues with WP Thyroid and another thyroid brand of NDT. The info stated that WP Thyroid was recalling unused batches of NDT, as the active contents were only about 90% of what they should be.

Has anyone else heard about this?

I need to order more NDT and I'm a bit worried about doing so with WP Thyroid. I was also alarmed to find they've added lactose to the ingredients - I pay an exorbitant amount to get these meds to the UK for the express reason that WP Thyroid is meant to be the cleanest of the NDTs.

Which begs another question - does anyone know of an alternative to WP Thyroid?

Also, I used to take Metavive and was wondering if anyone knew what the equivalent dose could replace WP Thyroid?

Sorry - so many questions in the same post, but they're all related. Cheers.

i spoke to the pharnacist who i buy my meds from ( in a different country). he said he’s been contacted for refunds on nature throid. however it might be useful for me to say my blood tests show i’m actually over medicated in nature throid so maybe do some testing before switching ( if that’s your main concern)

i’ve also got some metavive but don’t know how much to take to replace some ndt

the pharmacist i spoke to suggested armour or np acella but they are both much more expensive :(

hard times for those of us who just want to live andsurvive!

i think i’ll go back to my MP and raise issues of NDT and T3 being scarely or unavailable on nhs. i would be happy to pay what i pay to import to get it here on nhs but not possible due to bureaucracy and gas lighting of patients!! i have successfully persuaded endo to let my dad trial t3 after taking ndt with success but my dad is 63 and very unwell so i think he’s an exception!

good luck

You can also tell your MP that 'false statements' have been made about NDT in order to get it withdrawn, despite the fact that it saved lives from 1892 onwards and still does today. Before that we just died a horrible death. Being made from animals' glands it may be more conducive to the human body than synthetics.

T3 was withdrawn due to the shockingly enormous cost which used to be affordable. People who were well again on T3 became ill again or forced to source their own if possible.

thank you i’m aware, i took it to my MP who submitted my case to CMA as a cast study. I have been banging on about this for years to MP, psychiatrist , endo etc. they are fed up of me but i don’t care!

Why professionals don't seem to care about restoring their patients' health, I don't know why they decide upon a speciality and then don't appear to know much about how a dysfunctional thyroid gland affects people (mainly women).

In case you haven't read the following - it was from a doctor who was also an Adviser to thyroiduk before his accidental death.

drlowe.com/thyroidscience/C...

Dr Lowe wrote to them every year for three years before his death requesting a response but they never did.
