I can't find a single positive comment for WP thyroid online. Everyone seems to be saying it's no longer as effective as it use to be and the same for nature throid. I just put an order in for WP because it looked good, and being new to NDT I thought that NDT is NDT, as long as the hormone content is as being sold.
Is anyone getting on ok with WP, what is this about? They claim nothing at all has changed about their product, while I read on STTM people say the pills look different?
This is just from STTM, there are people on Facebook saying the same. What do you think?
While I wouldn't sing it's praises highly, it has certainly been a big improvement on T4/T3 combination for me. It is not burning my mouth like T4 does and painful knees are not so bad. Energy is not any better, but digestion is. I have been on it since February 2019.
Only 1 1/4 grains, and that gives me a FT3 of 5.7 (3.1 - 6.8), which prior to the change of T4 in 2010, always gave me this reading while on Goldshield Eltroxin, and on which I felt reasonably well.
The manufacturer of Erfa said the same thing a few years ago when the STTM reported a change in efficacy (plus showed pictures of "old" and "new" Erfa and the "new" one was definitely more blotchy). So, even if the drug has not been reformulated, it seems other things can affect its efficacy...in the case of Erfa, the problems started after they moved manufacturing from one country to another (so it´s likely they also changed production methods).
It seems all prescription brands of NDT are now problematic and reported to work less well.
I find Thai NDT to be an excellent alternative to prescription meds. I take Thyroid-S and do great on it, but there is also a new brand of Thai NDT said to be more like Thiroyd (discontinued last year). Even if the price of Thai NDT has jumped in the past year, it´s still cheaper than prescription brands.
yeah i've heard good stuff about thai ndt. if this wp thyroid i'm waiting for doesn't work i think ill give thai ndt a go. do you know if the pills for wp thyroid changed at all? i've heard some people say it did but never saw any pics of it
No, I don´t know anything about that as I have never taken WP. But I know the STTM has written extensively about this, and they are adamant no brand of prescription NDT is what it used to be after various reformulations (Armour, Naturethroid) and unspecified problems with other brands (Erfa, WP, NP...).
I have a prescription for Armour/Erfa (the only brands available where I get my meds) but decided to try Thai NDT instead as both Armour and Erfa are ridiculously expensive. I decided they are not worth it since they are both said to work less well nowadays. Thai NDT is much less expensive and works very well in my experience.
