Just want a second opinion

My last blood results 5th August from my doctor were

TSH 0.32

T4 13.1

T3 4.7

I have been on this dosage for just coming up to 8 months.

I was taking Erfa 30mg x 2 plus 25mg Levothyroxine in the morning and 30mg of Erfa in the evening.

My Endoc said the results were good (I didn’t agree) as I have been having Symptoms of my Myxodema.

So I have now changed to Armour with the same dosage as above.

Previously I was on Levo 150 & 175 alternative days which allowed me to function but still with symptoms.

I am now thinking that I’m not getting enough T4 although I know you can’t do a straight swap mg of NTD for levo.

But I was on a higher dose of T4 with my levo. I know it is trial and error but at this point I was thinking of going back to levo but add T3 in.

So in your experience what do you think. I am also going to get my vitamins checked.

Ranges

T3 3.1-6.8

T4 12-22

TSH 0.27-4.2

Can you add the lab ranges for your free T4 and free T3 please? These vary from lab to lab ... then we can see how you fit within the range

You can edit your post with the "more" button on the right.

How long have you been on your current meds?

TSH 0.32 [.027 - 4.2] this is low but not below range

T4 13.1 [12 - 22] this is a feeble 13.1% through range

T3 4.7 [3.1 - 6.8] this is a slightly more respectable 43% through range

Most of us hypos need both our frees to be in the top third of the range, suggesting you will feel better if you can increase your meds. I can't see how an endo can say that free T4 result is ok - unless he's myopic, stupid, or thinks anything "in range" is just dandy [in which case perhaps he's in the wrong job!

I'd suggest adding levo - 25 mcg to start, hold for a few weeks and see how you're doing; then maybe another 25 mcg, hold for 6 weeks and re-test - and see if you can find your "sweet spot". I don't think you need to add lio to the mix, just levo and that should bring up both results. Don't let the dopey endo say that you are over-medicated if your TSH slips below range: you are ONLY over-medicated when free T3 fgoes over-range

Good luck x
