I would really appreciate advice. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's 25 years ago and have been on thyroid replacement since.
Recently I have had racing heartbeat, inability to sleep and shortness of breath. I thought it might be too much thyroid although my TSH, T3 and T4 were all in the normal range. Cutting back my levothyroxine has reduced the symptoms, but not eliminated them, and has given me low thyroid symptoms (tired, cold, dry skin etc). I can't get back up to my regular dose now because tiny increases cause heart palpitations, shortness of breath, etc.
My symptoms are similar to "long-hauler" Covid 19 patients, but I tested negative. I think a thyroid issue is more likely, especially since I had an episode somewhat similar to this about 10 years ago, which turned out to be due to an extremely low vitamin D level.
I'm trying to figure out if what I am having now is due to a vitamin/mineral deficiency. I tried upping the D even though my lab for that was in an ok range. It did not seem to have a positive effect, and I had some symptoms of excess D. I've also added B12 with folate and B6 and that does seem to help some. I tried adding brazil nuts to see if selenium might be an issue, and I think that helps too.
Does this sound like anything anyone else has experienced? I would hearing anyone's similar experience, and would appreciate any advice.

I can only give you personal anecdotes. I get symptoms similar to the ones you describe under the following circumstances
1) My iron and/or ferritin levels dropping substantially below optimal
Get your levels tested...you can’t guess what’s happening
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially as you have Hashimoto’s
Are you on strictly gluten free diet?
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3 or NDT make sure to take last half or third of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Should I be on a gluten free diet? I mostly am, because husband needs it, but I've been eating bread lately, also some sugar.
TSH T3 T4 D and B12 all tested normal. I started taking B12 with folate and B6 a week ago and feeling a bit better, but today it has come back. Shortness of breath, fatigue, some chest pangs and a feeling of malaise. I thought I had an answer. This feels so discouraging. Have an endocrinologist appointment in a month.
I did that. He found that my mitral valve prolapse has worsened significantly but only with exercise. He doesn't think the cardiac issues are the cause. He thinks it's thyroid.
