Does anyone know of any Armour Thyroid - friendly endocrinologists in or near East Sussex? Please private message me with any suggestions!

I have been taking Armour Thyroid for over a decade but my NHS doctors are no longer willing to prescribe it - even though it is key to my quality of life. I would be very grateful if anyone knows of any NHS or private endos based in/near East Sussex (UK), who might be willing to help me. I take 1 grain Armour Thyroid and I really hope to find a sympathetic endocrinologist.

I would complain to your local MP that your life-giving hormone is being withdrawn and you really don't want to have your current good health interferred with due to False Statements being made about NDT and it being the only thyroid hormone replacement since 1892 up until the present day. He could ask Thyroiduk.org.uk to confirm that a number of people only recover on NDT.

You can tell your MP that Natural Dessicated Thyroid Hormones have been prescribed since 1892 and that was the very first replacement that saved the lives of patients who had hypothyroidism. It's safety is well-proven and it is a 'grandfathered' drug due to its long-standing prescribing. The 'authorities' have made statements that are untrue, thousands of patients worldwide still take this as it is made from animals' thyroid glands and is not synthetic like levothyroxine.

Lorraine Cleaver (link above) had her life saved through Thyroiduk and Dr Gordon Skinner - he seemed to be the very last doctor trained to restore the health of hypothyriod patients and found by the GMC to be causing no harm to patients and he had many, many letters sent to GMC saying that Dr Skinner 'saved their lives'.

Many doctors may have lost their licences if they didn't keep to the insensitive "updated" guidelines by people who have never had a problem with their thyroid gland, nor suffered the consequences of being undiagnosed and underdosed.

Just because they read books doesn't mean they can understand at all on how 'clinical symptoms affect us and our families too", because they wonder why - as we are taking levothyroxine (T4 alone) and not improving - even though some people have no problem with it. The majority on this forum can have a problem and that's why they're searching the internet.

Totally agree with Shaws. After 10yrs of sucessful treatment they are endangering your health by withdrawing it and at the least should ensure your well being is maintained in what they propose to replace it with. Have they said what? My GP threatened me with this but accepted the opinion of a private endo and have continued to treat. They have to ensure they are not damaging your health so I would pursue this in writing to the practise manager.

I buy my T3. I originally had it prescribed but found the bought one was better for me. I did have a difficulty once but it has been resolved so far.

Initially an endocrinologist prescribed a T4/T3 combination and then I went onto T3 only but as I had a phone call from endo that they didn't like my blood test result but I felt fine so decided to please myself

Don't give in - and refer anyone to lynmynott at Thyroiduk. I'd also visit your MP for a face-to-face consultation.

In my County they have a NHS consultant in an NHS hospital who has been officially authorised to prescribe NDT.

BUT there are a few conditions attached:

It is a PRIVATE prescription, ie you must pay for it yourself,

she is NOT, most definitely NOT, an endocrinologist. She is a surgeon and, as such, it is prohibited for anybody else to use this as a precedent for getting their own NHS supply of NDT from a genuine consultant endocrinologist.

This is certainly a scheme devised by the "top brass" of County's CCG's to stop people like me, the persistent complainers, in our tracks and stop us complaining.

This system may also operate in other Counties in the UK, the only thing you can do is ask.

This official scam works in Merseyside, but may also operate in Lancashire, Cheshire and maybe even the Midlands.

I refused this way out to get NDT and I am still complaining 6 years later, after 8 years of previous illness caused by the LIES, misrepresentations and utter stupidity of the entire NHS, for the promotion of Levothyroxine and blacklisting of NDT.

BOTH of these products (and also Liothyronine) have NEVER been passed by the MHRA as prescribable "drugs", so why is one greenlisted and the other blacklisted???????????

Wow Panda321 thats really odd and surely doesnt comply with NICE guidelines which state that it has to be prescribed by an Endocrinologist. How on earth does a surgeon get to do this???? Very dodgy !!
