My hair is very fine and although okay, it has bouts of falling out a lot for no apparent reason. I got quite excited when I saw the reviews about Starpowa from Holland and Barret, a hair and nail supplement. I was going to order Starpowa online but I called in to Holland and Barret today and was told Starpowa contains iodine. When I became ill with Graves, my thyroid was playing up but I did try Milk Thistle thinking I might be slightly hypothyroid. I didn't take the milk thistle long but I have wondered since if it was the final trigger for an already stressed thyroid. I don't want to take anything now that might tigger hyperthyroid off again.
Are there any hair supplements that do not contain Iodine?

I think you need to find the cause of the hair loss to find the cure. Has your ferritin been tested or your B12 as both can cause hair loss, as can under treated thyroid condition. Have you any bloods to post. I expect this is something fixable.
I thought of trying this when my hair was very thin but didn't because of its content. I did try Saw Palmetto which made no difference what so ever. The reason I lost my hair was because of my thyroid levels.
As you already know you have thyroid problem you need FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing
Are you still on propranolol?
Or on carbimazole?
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies...or if have Graves’ disease
You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 £29 (via NHS private service )
You may already know of the Elaine Moore Graves Disease Foundation website, but if not, there is a wealth of information on all things Graves.
I too have Graves but went through RAI, a treatment I deeply regret, and have learnt of my situation back to front.
Elaine Moore has Graves and she went through RAI back in the 1990's and found no help with her health issues. Being a medical researcher she thought she would write a book to help others in a similar situation to her, and now she is a leading researcher into Graves and autoimmune disease issues.
Her websites covers in depth alternative treatment options for Graves and is the most comprehensive site I have found for this poorly understood and badly treated autoimmune disease.
It is also important to keep on foot in this amazing website as we all share information and grow in our knowledge and feel better able to take some control and understand our bodies.
Check out collagen peptide. I'm also looking for something for my skin, hair and nails. I've already checked with my endocrinologist and she says it's fine to take with my Graves disease. I haven't starting taking them yet, but here's a good article... see link.
