Previously remission from Graves now Low Free T4

Hi

I've been in remission from Graves for about 4 years . It was resolved with medication then a change of diet to heal the underlying gut issues

Had a lot of stress recently , as we all have , and now FT4 is low

FT4 is 11.6 Range is 12 - 22

FT3 is 4.1 Range 2.8- 7.1

TSH is 1.6 Range 0.27 -4.2

So disappointed and so want to avoid going down the Graves pathway again

Should I get treatment now or try to have a strict diet and detox ?

Do the results mean I"m again hyperthyroid?

Thanks for you help and good luck to everyone out there

Kathy

Did you have antibodies tested that confirmed Graves?

I would say you're hypOthyroid, rather than hypERthyroid with those results. That FT4 is very low.

So hard at the moment , but stress does change our results .

You might find a detox etc a good way to focus on something else .

Thanks -- I"ll definitely improve my diet . Cutting out Gluten , Dairy helped me get Graves into remission for the last 4 years

Hi, it looks that you are hypothyroid. While the TSH is ok (ideally ot should be between 0.7 to 1.5), I believe that you will feel much better if your FT4 is between 10.21 - 15.4

(may be closer to 15) and the FT3 between 5.68 - 6.77

, again closer to the top end. I used your reference ranges as the basis here. The above ranges are more optimal than the so called "normal" ranges produced by the Labs. If you take T3, the TSH will probably be suppressed. Use these as a guide, but more importantly use your symptoms to guide you also. I hope that this helps. Good luck.
