blood test again today

I going for a blood test again today and I will try to get T3 measured!

Another GP has now queried my last blood results from May where T4 25.1 and Tsh 0.02 . I take 150 mg levo daily and my symptoms of hypo have greatly reduced, although I still get tingling in my feet. I weight 108kg so based on the NICE 2019 report I am underdosed by about 25mg . Many of us who are Hypo have lower blood volumes and I believe that this influences my blood results. I used to take T3 that I imported myself with my "old "Gp's knowledge and when I took T3 I felt the best ever, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to secure a supply for over 6 months.

I really don't want to start the argument again with a new GP about my dosage. Anyone got any ideas wrt a convincing argument when these blood results come back?

Many thanks

you could look up the links i put in first answer to this post, you may find something helpful in the discussions there.

You may still have to have an argument though, since it looks like that FT4 will be well over the top of the lab range?(do you have it ?) and with TSH <0.04, you can't use my favourite argument on the subject of low TSH 'risks'. which is only good for TSH between 0.04-0.4.

I've had to have an argument with GP, as i too often have FT4 over range, but TSH 0.05 ish

Thanks for the reply. The nurse agreeded to ask for T3 to be measured, so fingers crossed. I keep forgetting to ask about the range they are using for TSH and T4.

Good Luck.

Ah , yes ...it's difficult to get this stuff sorted when your brain is hiding under the duvet a lot of the time, isn't it.

I write a note on the back of my shopping list, before i go to the Doc's . They kept one of my notes once , and i found my medical history now includes ;

'Onions.

Bog Roll

post Office

Gas bill'

and the funny thing is some of us will actually have lists like that in our patients notes :)

I have only ever got my TSH and T4 done by the NHS because if your TSH is in range the labs refuse to do T3. I was admitted to hospital last July with a thyroid storm and they only tested the TSH. The NHS needs to change this but unless the government decides otherwise this will never happen. I actually asked my local MP to ask Matt Hancock about this and NDT and you can see the reply I got if you look on my profile page and scroll down.

Insist on testing Ft3, vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 BEFORE considering reducing levothyroxine

Just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate

All four vitamins need to be OPTIMAL

If Ft3 is not over range you are not over treated

Print out the nice guidelines on dose by weight and refuse to reduce dose

Thanks for your comments and the links. T3 was not measured even though the nurse asked for it to be carried out so no suprises there. Gp wants to see me as "they have dropped since May" says the receptionist. T4 21.7 and TSH 0.01. Im not in a hurry to phone him as I can't be bothered with hassle of arguing over the phone. Its much easier to explain face to face. I don't know about your experiences since the start of Covid, but they seem to switch off faster when talking to them on the phone!
