Patient access results
At my GPs they are on their really quick. I thought they went on there straight from the lab x
Your surgery has to set a switch on Patient Access to allow you to view blood test results and/or medical records online and they don't always do that automatically.
I can do some things via Patient Access, but I can't see test results and medical records. I keep meaning to ask for access to my personal data but haven't done it yet. All I can do is request a repeat prescription.
I wrote a letter asking my surgery to put my test results and letters from specialists on Patient Access but they phoned up and said they don't do that, but they will send me copies in the post. I don't get what Patient Access it for then. I can only order repeat prescriptions and book an appointment with a Dr on it. I can also see my diagnoses. There are no doctors notes on there or dates I have seen the doctor. I can not send a message to the surgery on PA either.
Before the pandemic I could make appointments to see a doctor through Patient Access.
I have a repeat prescription and I can request a repeat online for any of them.
There isn't much else that Patient Access does as far as I know. Doctors are legally supposed to allow access to medical records and test results and some of them do. I think that originally this was supposed to be in place by 2015 (but don't quote me). But surgeries have been dragging their heels for years. I don't think they are getting pushed by the powers-that-be very much.
For information on legal access to medical records the forum expert is DJR1 whose posts and replies you can read here :
You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.
The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results
UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.
In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet
Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.
Important to see exactly what has been tested and equally important what hasn’t been tested yet
Hi, I use that to , you cannot see your results until your doctor see them, my last blood test was taken in hospital by my endo and I took 3 weeks until they sent them to my doctors, I received a letter with my results the same day the GP got them and they were put on my notes
