Hi I’m just wondering if feeling cold( especially feet) is a sign of being under medicated. My
Temp first thing was 34.4 just retaken and 35.2. I’ve had quite erratic thyroid results lately. I stopped taking T3 about a month ago (self sourced) as I felt no different on it. Plus I hadn’t told my GP So thought I’d refrain till I’d had a few tests and go back to basics d sad o to speak. I have got low t3. First test (medicheck) was 3 and second 2.69. My last ferritin came back at 21 but doc said this was fine because of other iron results. I’m at a loss. I’m going to do monitor my health thyroid panel on Monday morning and due docs ones probably towards end of August. X

This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.
Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption
Vitamins frequently crash right right down when T3 is stopped
Recommend getting FULL thyroid and vitamin testing 6-8 weeks after stopping T3
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Physicians should: 1) alert patients that preparations may be switched at the pharmacy; 2) encourage patients to ask to remain on the same preparation at every pharmacy refill; and 3) make sure patients understand the need to have their TSH retested and the potential for dosing readjusted every time their LT4 preparation is switched (18).
Levothyroxine is an extremely fussy hormone and should always be taken on an empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after
Many people take Levothyroxine soon after waking, but it may be more convenient and perhaps more effective taken at bedtime
I’m on 75mcg teva thyroxine...after my last t4 of 23.7 (9-22) I was asked to lower it. I feel it’s too low. I was going to add 15mcg to it but just want to do the monitor my health test on Monday morning first. Regards my ferritin when I brought this upto doc she said all the other iron tests were ok, so could it be low because my tablet dose is too low x
