Hi all it’s been quite some time since I posted as I’ve been mainly on the p.a forum which has been a great help to me so thank you for pointing me in that direction.
I’ve finally managed to get my bloods tested after supplementing as advised here,so today I had some results back and turns out I have Addison’s disease.my new gp has been first class and has referred me to the private endo of my choice a lovely professor based in oxford who came highly recommended thank you.Appointment is in two weeks.
My results have changed since I first posted here so I’d appreciate your wisdom once again please.
TSH 1.48 range 0.27-4.2 miul
FreeT3 4.63 pmol range 3.1-6.8
Free Thyroxine 14.6 pmol range 12.-22
My folate is still low but I’m guessing that’s because I’ve been having b12 injections so I’ll increase my supplements on that.
Looks like you need a raise of thyroid meds as levels are still too low but you need to address your Addison's first as raising your medication would put more stress on your adrenals. Hope you get this fixed soon and feel better with hydrocortisone.
Assume you had an early morning blood draw, an left 24 hours from previous levo.
In terms of statistics, your TSH is a little higher than many of us hypos like. Your free T4 is only 26% through range. Your free T3 is slightly better at 41.35% though range which means you convert well - but many of us need both of these to be at least top third of range, often top quartile - so there's plenty of scope for a dose increase if you don't feel tip-top x
Hi I’m not on any thyroid medication.I took the advice here and optimised my vitamin levels then I got retested to see what if any changes I had so that’s why I posted the latest results. X
I wasn't aware you were not taking thyroid medication in that case wait till you start on hydrocortisone you may well see a good improvement in your thyroid.
I’m watching your progress with great interest as I have similar readings to yours and I’ve been recommended the same endo. I have found another endo near me who I’m speaking to tonight but if I get no joy, I’ll contact your man. Good luck.
Hi a Jamima I went to another endo but sadly it was just money after money and also involved buying big amounts of support supplements which I wasn’t comfortable with taking when we didn’t have the full test reports and investigations done so I decided to part with him.
This endo comes highly recommended by members and I’ve did my homework researching so fingers crossed is all I can say,I got my appointment super quick and I’ve had a lot of updated tests done myself so I’ll update after I’ve spoken to him.x
do you mind me asking how far away from where you live your Endo is? i wasnt aware you could ask your GP to refer to someone in particular, does it just apply to someone within a persons County or could it be anywhere in the UK?
Mine is 15 minutes away but I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. I used to work for the NHS and with a referral letter you can go anywhere within the NHS to see the Endocrinologist of your choice. If you find one you want to see I would ring his secretary and ask if he will see you and then ask for a referral letter from your GP.
Hi there it’s a private endo referral which you can do anywhere in the country if your gp is amenable.
I think you can also ask your gp to refer if you have an nhs endo in mind and your willing to travel but I’m not 100% on that I’m sure someone here can give better advice sorry.x
