Probiotic suggestions

Hi, do your children take a probiotic and if so which one? My child has hashimotos. I have had mixed feedback from practitioners on this from ‘only giving them what they need to a good probiotic is essential’. Thanks

Hi

I’ve got both of Dr Michael Moseley books after watching his TV documentary a few years ago and found it highly interesting.

I think it’s called the the clever gut diet.

It talks about healing your gut from any inflammation and tells and lists all the best foods and probiotics and others in their.

I take Biomel and kefir from the supermarkets that’s usually in the yoghurt section.

They do help

I have been making my own Kefir for many years now. Much more convenient and cheaper than shop bought. It is very easy. You will find many " recipes " on line. You just need the starter then off you go. Children may find the taste too sour but you can add a flavour eg a few spoonfuls of chocolate milk to make it palatable.

The possibilities are endless. My favourite is a concoction of honey lemon and ginger that greygoose posted about a year ago. It is delicious.

Possibly not the ginger for children ... sounds good though....

No health reason . Just thought some children might prefer it without !!! Best try different combinations

Is kefir better than natural Greek yogurt?

Kefir is a fermented product containing more varied "good" bacteria and vitamins than greek yougurt.

Ok, many thanks. I’ve tried it before but found it a bit hard going. I’ll add some fruit purée as suggested here.

Hi use Biomel too. It’s a dairy free bottle and comes in a nice chocolate flavour. My kids love it. It’s not cheap though when used daily. X

I make water Kefir, and flavour it with apple or pineapple juice. My mate's granddaughters almost beg me for it.
