Changed my T3 and received blood results today....not good!!

Hi all!

I had a thyroidectomy 4 years ago. My doctor recommended T3 with Syntrhoid. It has worked until I traveled to Spain and had to order my T3 from Greece. It seemed to work perfectly until I recently ran out and switched to Mexico Cynomel, since I’m living in Mexico now. I have felt terrible, especially my neck has felt swollen.

So I went and had thyroid blood results....can someone help me with the results from my blood work?

No wonder i feel like crap!! Am I okay? Should I just double up on my synthroid and T3 and will notice a difference?

Thanks everyone!!

Well, your TSH is much too high, your FT3 is low, and your FT4 is below range. But I can't imagine that all that is down to the Mexican T3. I've taken both Mexican and Greek T3, for long periods, and didn't find any difference between them.

You don't say how much levo or T3 you're currently taking, but I doubt you should just double either of them. Levo should be increased by 25 mcg ever six weeks. T3 should be increased by 1/4 pill every two weeks. But, you should never increase both at the same time.

As T3 is the active hormone, I would start by adjusting that. Then, if you get your FT3 up near the top o the range with no adjustment, that would be the time to try increasing the levo.

Just out of interest, how long a gap did you leave between your last dose of levo, and your last dose of T3, and the blood draw? :)

It was 24 hours since I took meds and had bloodwork.

I increased my T3 this morning and will adjust my levo in 2 weeks as you recommended.

Thanks for your help!

Ah, well, you've got a false low FT3, then. You should only leave 8 - 12 hours for T3. 24 hours is for levo.

Maybe she just take meds in the morning. She should spilt the T3 in 2 or 3 times a day, if not doing.

Or change completely the time of taking the T3. What the OP does is completely irrelevant to that fact that her FT3 is not as low as she thinks it is because she left too long a gap between her last dose of T3 and the blood draw. Which is what I was pointing out.

It certainly isn't an obligation to split the T3 into 2 or 3 doses on a daily basis. Plenty of people take it all in one go and that suits them just fine.

I understand what you point out. I also agree that she left too long gap between the T3 dose and the blood draw. But if she takes T3 that way, that’s the reality for her. It’s not a obligation to split T3 in 2or 3 doses it was just a suggestion.

You should spilt the T3 in 2 or 3 times a day, if not doing so. And as Greygoose had mention increase just one each time.Go slowly and consistently.
