Unfortunately, there are not many options left if you mean NDT available without a prescription. Thiroyd and TR were discontinued last year. There is a new Thai NDT called Tru Thyroid, but it has only been around for a couple of months and I doubt it´s even available in Europe yet since all stocks of Thai NDT seem stuck in Thailand ATM. It´s supposedly like Thiroyd (same ingredients) so could be an option if Thyroid-S does not work for you.

Even if I am doing fine on Thyroid-S, I cannot for the life of me understand why they need to put so many fillers in it...!

Yes there’s not many options available is there I got hold of thyrogold easily but it’s very expensive and wasn’t working that well on last test .

I looked on Thyroid s is available again but on back order

Don’t understand why they put in those ingredients as lots of people are allergic to them but good to know your doing ok on them . Have they kept you optimal ?

Yes, my impression is that Thyroid-S works better than Erfa (which I took for a short while after it was said to have been reformulated somehow according to the STTM...).

Umm I didnt know Thyroid S had those ingedients. Why does it need to?

I’m Lactose free and allergic to potassium dichromate and improved greatly when I stopped taking Levothyroxine and went onto Thyroid S.

How did you find out that these were in the tablets and do you know whats in Metavive ? x

Thank you SeasideSusie!

Why do they need to put food colours in that more people could potentially have a problem with? I think I will try Metavive next then, as it doesnt contain colours or Lactose. But I have been much better since the day I started taking NDT. My lymph glands and chest pains disappeared though still left with numb patches. But wonder if I would be better still on Metavive. Maybe worth a try x

It's certainly worth a try, but just be aware that is a food supplement with no declared hormone content, it is not marketed as NDT nor does it claim to be. Saying that, some people do well on it :)

I've never understood why colouring needs to be added anything, medication, soap, shampoo, keeping things as pure as possible means less possibility of anyone having a reaction.

Hi Michelle

I never had any problems with Thyroid S but if you think it might not suit you I don't blame you for trying an alternative x

in reply to MichelleHarris

I was not too crazy about the fillers either when I started on Thyroid-S, but the STTM has a list of ingredients where it says "no known hazard" after every ingredient. So, even if there are a lot of fillers, there don´t seem to be any known risks associated with them. Of course, you can be sensitive or allergic to individual fillers, but I have been on Thyroid-S now for a few years and have not had any problems so I feel reassured they are safe to take.

I thought I had something to do with stopping counterfeiting - I think I read it somewhere

I use Nature Throid - which I do well on - still adjusting - on 3 & 1/2 grains atm - ( took 150mg of Levothyroxine for 25 years - never did well on it even upping the dose )

Oh sorry - yes I do get a prescription which I have to pay for - it’s a bummer 😐but I only seen Endo once a year - & I do a Medichecks blood test for him -

I’m still not able to or confident enough to understand & read my own blood tests so I need him
