NDT supplier possible scam?

Hello,

I posted in April that I was running low of Thyroid S and that the two usual suppliers I use were out of stock. Someone on here helpfully PM’d me a link to another supplier who was showing stock, albeit only in 500s, rather than the 1000s I usually order.

Knowing there might be a risk, but being desperate, I ordered and was sent a tracking number, with links to the genuine tracking sites for both DHL and Royal Mail. I thought it odd that one number would work for both services but when typed in to either site, and not by using the supplied links, it did indeed show my parcel en route from Thailand to my home county.

I have been tracking it daily over the last few weeks and it was showing as en route but in Germany since 22/05, which could make sense as DHL is German. Yesterday it still showed last update as 22/05. Today, the same tracking number is showing as delivered on both Royal Mail and DHL, but delivered on 13/05 to a completely different county.

Could this be some sort of scam? Is it possible to make fake tracking numbers?

I have raised the issue with DHL and PayPal. Less worried about the loss of money but don’t want anyone else to fall foul. And desperate now for some NDT!

I know we can’t post supplier details on here but how should I warn others of the website of it does prove to be a scam?

If the supplier you ordered from was recommended by another member, did you satisfy yourself that it was a longstanding member and not someone newly joined with no posts on the forum (by checking their profile)? If an established member then the recommendation would be good and the supplier previously found to be reliable.

If you tried the tracking number on sites you typed in yourself rather than using supplied links, and you believe them to be genuine, then you should perhaps make enquiries of Royal Mail (as well as DHL as you've already done), supplying the tracking number and details of the apparent wrong delivery and ask them to look into it.

Well, you can't do it publicly on the forum. If any member wants to know they will send you a PM, that's the only way it can be done.

I will turn off replies to your post so that no discussion about the supplier takes place on the forum and anyone who wishes more information will send you a private message.
