I have borderline hypothyroid (confirmed via blood tests). I have recently started taking Metavive I in the morning to help combat this. I am pretty sure though I could convince my GP to prescribe me Levothyroxine.
What are some of the pros/cons of levothyroxine vs Metavive I?
Thanks

There's no clear cut answer to that.
Levothyroxine is synthetic thyroid hormone replacement - T4.
Metavive is a thyroid glandular with no declared hormone content.
Levothyroxine suits many, many people (although there's probably not many on here, our members tend to be looking for answers either about diagnosis or when Levo doesn't necessarily suit them).
Some people get on well with Metavive, some don't.
There are just under 2 million people in the UK on levothyroxine....fortunately they aren’t all on here!
Many people do very well on levothyroxine, plus all prescriptions are Free when diagnosed as hypothyroid and blood tests free are done as minimum annually, more frequently while getting diagnosed and correct dose established.....
However to get GP to agree diagnosis and prescribe they would likely want to do blood test ...obviously on Metavive your results would not show need for levothyroxine
