Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you did this test?

results suggest You were under medicated.

Ft4 only 40% through range

Ft3 only 11% through range

Poor conversion

Likely low vitamin levels due to being under medicated

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested?

So you needed dose increase in levothyroxine

But you are poor converter

Do you have Hashimoto’s?

Have you had Dio2 gene test?

For clarity, the gene that affects T4 to T3 conversion is called DIO2 - that is, three letters and a number. Not D102 - a letter and three numbers. Not DI02 - two letters and two numbers.

The name comes from the enzyme that this gene affects which is a deiodinase. It removes an iodine atom from a thyroid hormone molecule - it deiodinates it.

On this forum we probably understand, but if you wish to look it up anywhere, it might help to get it right. If you are discussing with a doctor, and get it wrong, you are providing an excuse for them to dismiss what you say.

(More strictly, two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on the DIO2 gene, rs225014 and rs225015.)

The Wiki article provides a basic introduction as to what a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) is and why it can be important:

I’m sorry to hear you’re not doing very well it’s so hard ! We both tried Nature Throid at the same time and got really ill we both went back to Levo :( if it’s any consolation I’m still on 100mg of Levo my results are bad but not as grim as yours ! I really hope Erfa work for you please keep me posted on your progress . I’ve got some Thyro Gold I was just about to start it when we went into lockdown so I held off incase I had a bad reaction as I’m not supported by my Dr or Endo so I will let you know if I have any progress :)

Good luck and stay safe
